Michigan State University Press Internship Program

Michigan State University Press is dedicated to fostering future publishers. Our internship program is designed to expose students to the full range of academic publishing experiences, including manuscript acquisitions; editorial, book, and journal production; marketing; publicity; and order fulfillment. Interns will have an opportunity to work with freelance editors, designers, indexers, in-house editors, customers, series editors, illustrators, and authors.

Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, a keen eye for detail, the ability to work with several projects simultaneously, and good organizational skills. Applicants also should possess a strong work ethic, a team spirit, and a healthy sense of humor. Michigan State University Press provides a work environment in which students are encouraged to learn not only time-honored publishing traditions and industry standards, but to also explore new directions, technologies, and trends in publishing.
