 Pambazuka Press is the progressive Pan-African publisher
and an imprint of Fahamu Books (Oxford, UK). Fahamu's vision of the world is one where people organize to emancipate themselves from all forms of oppression, recognize their social responsibilities, respect each other's differences, and realize their full potential. Pambazuka Press publishes titles on human rights, social justice, politics, and advocacy in Africa, written by well-known African academics, public intellectuals, and activists. Pambazuka is associated with the award- winning electronic newsletter Pambazuka News.

 The African Books Collective (ABC) was founded and is owned and governed by African publishers. The collective is an organization of over 100 independent and autonomous African publishers. It is non-profit, and supported by government agencies and other development organizations. ABC seeks to strengthen indigenous African publishing through collective action and to increase the visibility and accessibility of the wealth of African scholarship and culture. ABC stocks largely English language titles in 56 subject disciplines. Some 150 new titles are added each year. There is an emphasis on scholarly and academic books, literature, and general culture titles. There are a small number of children’s titles in Swahili, and some titles in French. All titles are available for immediate supply: in North America from Michigan State University Press, or in the UK from ABC.
