Dave Dempsey
Dave Dempsey is an environmental policy consultant and writer who has
been active on conservation for more than 25 years. Dave served as
environmental advisor to Michigan Governor James J. Blanchard from
1983-89. President Clinton appointed Dempsey to the Great Lakes
Fishery Commission in 1994. Dempsey is the winner of the 2009
Michigan Author Award, an annual award - from the Michigan Center for
the Book/Library of Michigan - honoring a Michigan writer for his or
her contributions to literature based on an outstanding published
body of work. He has also held numerous administrative, policy and
consulting positions for nonprofit conservation and environmental
organizations in Michigan and Minnesota. Dave is the author of two
award-winning books on the environment: and On the Brink: The
Great Lakes in the 21st Century and Ruin and Recovery:
Michigan’s Rise as a Conservation Leader. Dave also authored
William G. Milliken: Michigan’s Passionate Moderate.
