2005 Michigan Humanities Council Grant, Ethnicity in Michigan,
In November 2005, The Michigan State University Press was awarded a $20,000 grant by the Michigan Humanities Council, for its Discovering the Peoples of Michigan book series (DPOM). This award is a part of the Council's We the People grant program, a National Endowment for the Humanities initiative. MSU Press will collaborate with the Michigan Museums Association (MMA) to bring authors with various ethnic backgrounds to make presentations of their research and books in 10 museums across Michigan in 2006.

At the time the grant was awarded, the DPOM series contained 20 titles: African Americans in Michigan, Albanians in Michigan, Amish in Michigan, Arab Americans in Michigan, Indians in Michigan, Chaldeans in Michigan, Dutch in Michigan, Ethnicity in Michigan, French Canadians in Michigan, Germans in Michigan, Greeks in Michigan, Hungarians in Michigan, Italians in Michigan, Jews in Michigan, Latinos in Michigan, Latvians in Michigan, Mexicans and Mexican Americans in Michigan, Poles in Michigan, Scots in Michigan and South Slavs in Michigan. , 2005.
