Sharon was educated in small towns in Saskatoon, and at the University of Saskatchewan. She gave up work as a Special Educator to become a novelist, short story writer, and writer of creative non-fiction. He was educated in Edmonton, Oregon, and Winnipeg, and began writing in Texas in 1976 during a heat wave when there was nothing else to do. It stuck.
