Submission Guidelines

Red Cedar Review accepts poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and black and white photography, with no restrictions on subject or form. Send all submissions and inquiries along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE), to:

Submissions and inquiries received August 1 – October 1 will receive a response in November; submissions received at any other time will be considered for the following reading period. Red Cedar Review receives First Publishing Rights, and pays in two (2) copies. Sample back issues are available for $10, including shipping and handling.

General Guidelines for All Submissions:
- Annual reading period: August 1 – October 1
- Specify genre on envelope, i.e., "Attn: Fiction," and on cover letter, if included
- Only original, unpublished work accepted
- Simultaneous submissions not accepted
- Translations not accepted
- Type all submissions
- Self-addressed, stamped envelope required
Fiction and Nonfiction Guidelines
- One (1) short story or essay maximum per submission
- 5,000 words limit
- Author's name and address required on title/first page
- Author's last name and page number required on each subsequent page
- Use italics to indicate italics—do not underscore
Poetry Guidelines
- Five (5) poems maximum per submission
- Poem's title, poet's name, and address required on the first page
- Poem title, poet's last name, and page number required on each subsequent page
Photography Guidelines
- Five (5) images maximum per submission
- All images must be black and white
- All images must be portrait orientation (vertical) or square
- 300 dpi minimum resolution required
- Save images in .jpg format on CD-ROM
